MARINE RESCUE BROKEN BAY

REBUILDING BAYVIEW HEADQUARTERS

Currently Broken Bay Unit has been occupying a demountable shed in its Bayview marine compound since the 1990's. This 50 year old shed was originally owned by Pittwater Council, it fell into a dilapidated condition and was to be demolished.

The Council then negotiated with Marine Rescue to have it relocated to the current marine compound and our members adapted, repaired and generally gave it a new lease of life. Due to its age it is now leaking, subsiding and showing signs of imminent failure.

A team of members has been formed with the task of identifying how to rebuild a fit for purpose, state of the art Marine Rescue Base that can adequately support our crews when they respond to marine emergencies at anytime 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Fruitful preliminary discussions have already been held with the local Federal and State politicians as well as Northern Beaches Councillors and professional staff all of whom have all promised support in this important rebuilding project.
